More and more LED street lights are adopted by consumers and projects. Choosing the right color temperature for LED lights will make our lighting environment more reasonable.
Color temperature is the color appearance of a light solution output. It is measured and recorded in the unit of Kelvin and abbreviated to CCT for correlated color temperature.
At present, most LED lights on the market are in the following CCT ranges:
Low color temperature(Below 3500K): The color is reddish, giving people a warm and stable feeling. So, it is also called warm white.
Medium color temperature(between 3500-5000K): It is often referred as neutral white, which is soft, giving people a pleasant, refreshing feeling.
High color temperature(above 5000K): It is also called cold white. At the same time, light sources with high CCT generally have higher luminous efficiency.
The various CCT ratings leave a lot of options in terms of lighting temperatures. However, not all temperatures are best suited to every location.
When planning the correlated color temperature for street light, the most important issues are visibility and light pollution.
While you may think the brighter and cooler the better for visibility as the main concern, light pollution and visibility need to work in tandem with each other instead of opposing for the best result.
